In this week's episode we talk about some of our favorite pits and how we name them (officially and unofficially). Do you have a favorite name of a Gray Fossil Site pit?
During some of the episodes we discuss surface collecting, as a way that we decide where to start a test pit. Here you can see Shawn and Brian looking for fossils that may have been uncovered, and Grant enjoying the weather!
One of the pits we mentioned we call the Blackberry Pit because of one of the crews favorite lunchtime hobbies, blackberry picking.
This is what the Gator Pit looks like this year, and the Blackberry Pit is under the white carport.
And of course the Rhino Pit, you can see how it has changed with the most recent picture to the left to it's beginning on the right.
Everyone's favorite pit, the Mulch Pit. At least it looks pretty.
This is a TDOT photo of the stair steps they dug, and where we originally dug for the mastodont. TP1-2007 was opened at the bottom of this stair step.
And the current Mastodon Pit, where you can currently see students, workers, and volunteers digging up one of our Mastodonts.
